Cagles Mill Lake — west-central Indiana bass and crappie
Cataract Lake (officially Cagles Mill Lake) is a 1,400-acre Army Corps reservoir on Mill Creek in Owen and Putnam counties, near Spencer and Cloverdale. Indiana's first federal flood-control reservoir, Cataract is named for the impressive 86-foot Upper and Lower Cataract Falls just upstream — among the largest waterfalls in Indiana. The reservoir is best known for largemouth bass, crappie, and channel catfish. Hybrid striped bass have been stocked periodically. The Lieber SRA on the south shore is the main public access with two ramps, a beach, marina, and campground. Cunot Ramp on the north shore provides additional access. Smaller and quieter than Monroe or Patoka, Cataract is a favorite among kayak and small-boat anglers.
