Geist Reservoir
Reservoir · Hamilton County, Indiana

Indianapolis metro's premier suburban bass reservoir
Geist Reservoir is a 1,890-acre water-supply reservoir on Fall Creek in Hamilton, Marion, and Hancock counties, just northeast of Indianapolis. Owned by Citizens Energy Group, Geist is one of the busiest fisheries in central Indiana — bass tournaments run almost every summer weekend. The lake holds quality largemouth bass, with the rocky riprap, docks, and submerged stumps providing excellent structure. Crappie fishing around the bridges and brush piles in spring is reliable. Bluegill and redear sunfish provide consistent panfish action. Channel catfish over 20 pounds are caught regularly. Geist is an open-horsepower reservoir popular with skiers and speedboats, so anglers fish early or work the no-wake zones near the causeways, bridges, and dam to stay out of the recreational traffic.
